Men's Basketball frozen by Gettysburg, 61-58

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Gettysburg put three players in double figures, led by 16 points from senior guard Derek Brooks as the Bullets (7-7, 3-4 Centennial) defeated Ursinus (6-8, 4-3 Centennial) 61-58 Tuesday night in a tightly contested men's basketball game at Helfferich Hall. 

The Bullets rallied from six down at intermission as Ursinus suffered from the field. The Bears were just 1-for-11 from the three-point line in the second half, finishing the game 5-for-22 and 24-for-60 from the field. The Bears converted just three field goals in the first ten minutes of the second half.

Despite the poor shooting, Ursinus was in it to the end thanks to Gettysburg making just 50 percent of their foul shots (11-for-22). A long three-pointer from freshman guard Malik Draper (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Area) as the buzzer sounded went wide left. 

Ursinus was led by 12 points each from senior forward Kevin Janowski (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) and freshman guard Mark Wonderling (Lederach, Pa./Souderton Area). Senior forward Jon Ward (Allentown, Pa./Parkland), junior guard Ryan Adams (White Plains, N.Y./The Hun School) and Draper each had nine in the loss.

Gettysburg also got 14 points off the bench from senior center Benjamin Constable and ten points from junior forward Connor Poston. 

Ursinus had its biggest lead of the game with 1:38 left in the first half when Wonderling made a three-point play to give Ursinus a 33-25 lead. 

In the second half, Gettysburg took a four-point lead with 11:16 left as Brooks made a layup to make the second 43-39. Ursinus would come back and retake the lead wat 46-44 lead with 7:35 left on a layup by Adams. 

With the score tied at 55-all with 1:13 left, Gettysburg took the lead for good on a layup by sophomore guard Joe Emerusabe at 57-55. From there, Gettysburg made 4-of-6 foul shots to take the win, while Ursinus went 1-for-2 and got a layup from junior guard Jesse Krasna (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) with 21 seconds left.

Gettysburg won the game despite going 0-for-8 from the three-point line. Both teams took care of the ball, making 11 turnovers on both sides. The Bullets had a 37-32 edge on the glass, with Poston grabbing a game-high ten. Janowski had seven for the Bears, while Krasna had seven assists.
