BALTIMORE, Md. – A layup from junior guard Ryan Adams (White Plains, N.Y./The Hun School) with just eight seconds left in the second overtime proved to be the game winner as Ursinus (6-7, 4-2 Centennial) earned a hard fought 65-64 win over Johns Hopkins (7-6, 3-3 Centennial) on Saturday afternoon.

Adams finished with 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting along with six rebounds in the win. Ursinus was led by freshman guard Malik Draper (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Area) who had 17 points, with junior point guard Jesse Krasna (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) scoring 13 points.

Hopkins put four players in double figures, led by 13 points each from George Bugarinovic and Jimmy Hammer.

Ursinus trailed by as much as 11 points midway through the first half, before rallying to within two at 29-27 at half. In the second half, the Bears trailed by eight and did not pull even with the Blue Jays until Krasna hit a three-pointer with eight seconds left to tie the score at 57-all.

In the first overtime, Ursinus held Hopkins without a field goal and got two foul shots from Draper (who scored all of Ursinus' points in the first overtime) to send the game to a second extra frame knotted at 61-all.

In the second overtime, a layup by senior forward Kevin Janowski (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) with 4:06 left gave the Bears a 63-61 lead.

After a jumper by Hammer tied the score up at 63-all, Mike Rhoads hit one of two foul shots with 1:03 left to give Hopkins a one-point lead at 64-63.

Ursinus finished the game with a 43-40 edge in rebounding with Draper grabbing nine for the Bears.

The Bears host Gettysburg on Tuesday night.
