Men's Basketball edged by Staten Island, 61-60

ANNVILLE, Pa. – College of Staten Island junior center Dylan Bulger scored a layup with under 14 seconds to go as the Dolphins (1-1) held on for a 61-60 victory over Ursinus (0-2) Saturday afternoon in men's basketball play at the Rinso Marquette Tournament hosted by Lebanon Valley.

The Bears, who led briefly in the second quarter, did not get their final shot off in time after inbounding it in front of their bench.

Ursinus was led by freshman guard Malik Draper (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) who narrowly missed his first collegiate double-double, as he went for 15 points and nine rebounds. Both were game-highs.

Senior forward Jon Ward (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) scored 13 points and secured all-tournament honors. Junior guard Jesse Krasna (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) had 11 points on 4-for-4 shooting from the field.

CSI, who advanced to the NCAA Third Round last season, got 13 points from sophomore guard Javon Cox and 12 points each from junior guard Jon Chadwick-Myers and Bulger.

Ursinus owned a 29-26 edge in rebounding, paced by Draper's nine. Cox had six rebounds for the Dolphins.

After a 4-all tie three minutes in, the Dolphins led the entire rest of the first half, going up by as much as six at 20-14 on a basket by junior forward Frank Husslein.

Like Friday night, Ursinus rallied back to within one but trailed 32-30 at intermission.

In the second half, CSI went up by nine at 43-34 on a three-point play by Bulger. But, the Bears would respond with a 9-0 run to tie the score at 43-all with 14:30 left on a three-point play by Ward.

Ursinus took its first lead at 56-55 with 4:11 left on a driving layup by Draper, then went up by three with 1:36 left on a pair of foul shots by freshman guard Mark Wonderling (Lederach, Pa./Souderton Area).

Ursinus finished the game 15-for-19 from the foul line (78.9 percent)
