Men's Basketball takes out City Tech, 77-62

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – It was quite the homecoming weekend for Ursinus sophomore forward Jon Ward (Allentown, Pa./Parkland).

The 6-10 sophomore, who played in front of the hometown crowd for the first time, scored 22 points as the Bears (4-8) defeated New York City Tech (0-9) 77-62 Monday afternoon in the consolation game of the Casa Mia Holiday Tournament hosted by DeSales University.

Ward, who was named to the All-Tournament team, averaged 23 points in the two games and went over the 20 point mark for the seventh time this season.

Sophomore forward Kevin Janowski (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) added in 13 points, with sophomore guard Matt Donahue (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) adding in 12. Senior guard Matt Hilton (Lewistown, Pa./Lewistown Area) also threw in 11 points as the Bears held the lead throughout the game, with the score only being tied twice.

Ursinus had a 32-30 rebounding edge with Ward grabbing seven, while Janowski and freshman guard Jesse Krasna (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury) each taking six.

For NY City Tech, Nathaniel Young had 30 points, with Kenechi Martins and Donald Rodriguez each scoring 11.

Ursinus maintained a high-shooting level in the game, finishing the contest 27-for-53 (50.9 percent) from the field.

The Bears jump back into conference play on Saturday, traveling to Johns Hopkins.
