Men's Basketball outgunned by Gettysburg, 74-63

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Gettysburg put five players in double figures as the Bullets (7-5, 5-1 Centennial) handed Ursinus (7-6, 3-3 Centennial) a 74-63 setback on Tuesday night in Centennial Conference men's basketball play.

Junior center Andrew Powers posted a game-high 22 points, while freshman guard Alex Zurn added in 17.

The Bullets gunned in a game-high ten three-pointers on 22 attempts (45.5 percent) and had as much as a 25-point lead in the second half.

For Ursinus, junior guard Matt Hilton (Lewistown, Pa./Lewistown Area) had a team-high 17 points, while senior guard Remy Cousart (Philadelphia, Pa./Holy Ghost) had 14.

The Bullets took an early 15-10 lead with 12:31 to go in the first half on a jumper by senior guard Brendan Hager. Ursinus fought back and took an 18-17 lead on a three-pointer by Hilton.

The Bears would take their biggest lead with 5:53 to go on a three-pointer by senior guard Kevin McGarvey (Lower Gwynedd, Pa./Penn Charter) at 23-19.

From that point, Gettysburg would outscore the Bears 12-4, capped a pair of foul shots from Zurn for a 31-27 halftime lead.

In the second half, Ursinus cut the deficit to four at 32-28. Gettysburg then rattled off 11 straight points to take a 43-28 lead and never looked back.

Gettysburg had a 29-27 lead on the glass with junior forward Kevin Kennedy collecting eight. Cousart had eight boards for Ursinus.

Freshman forward Jon Ward (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) finished with 12 points for Ursinus, while senior guard Keith Page (Manchester, England/Blair Academy) had 11 points off the bench. Ursinus would outscore the Gettysburg reserves 17-2 in the contest.

Ursinus heads to McDaniel Thursday night.
