CLINTON, N.Y. – Senior guard Remy Cousart
(Philadelphia, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) converted a
three-point play with just under five seconds remaining as Ursinus
(1-0) defeated Keystone (0-2) 85-83 Friday night in the first game
of the Hamilton Tip-Off tournament at Hamilton College in upstate
New York.
Ursinus will take on the winner of SUNY-Canton/Hamilton in the
championship game Saturday afternoon at 4.
Cousart also added in 14 rebounds as the Bears converted 32-of-34
foul shots in the win, including a 24-for-26 mark in the second
half.
Junior guard Matt Hilton (Lewistown,
Pa./Lewistown) also hit for 23 points in his first game
back from a broken foot he suffered in December of last year.
Senior guard Keith Page (Manchester, England/Blair
Academy) added 14 points off the bench.
For Keystone, Tercel Taylor scored 26, while Ryne Luce had 17
points off the bench, including five three-pointers.
Ursinus trailed by as much as 11 in the second half, before
rallying to take its first lead of the game at 61-60 on a layup by
Page. Ursinus took its biggest lead of the game at 68-64 on three
straight foul shots by Hilton with 8:48 left.
Freshman forward John Ward (Allentown,
Pa./Parkland) and freshman forward Kevin Janowski
(New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) each had nine points in their
debut, while freshman guard Matt Donahue (Mechanicsburg,
Pa./Trinity School) had seven points.
Ursinus had a 35-29 rebounding edge.
