Ten Gymnasts Named Academic All-Americans

WCGA Announcement

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Ten members of the Ursinus College gymnastics team were rewarded for their success in the classroom with Academic All-America honors from the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA), the organization announced Tuesday.

Graduates Breanna Couts, Skylar Haas, Eleanor LaFountain, and Sabrina Tusavitz were joined by rising seniors Hailey DiCicco and Danielle Terrenzio; rising juniors Emma Brown and Gabrielle Pitt; and rising sophomores Alyssa DeLorme and Shruthi Anand in earning the award, which the WCGA gives to student-athletes with a 3.50 overall grade-point average or a 3.50 GPA for the 2019-20 academic year.

The WCGA recognition completes an impressive double for Couts, Haas, LaFountain, and Tusavitz, who also received the All-America in Academics Award from the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) in March.

The double-digit Academic All-American total represented more than half of the overall roster for the Bears, who posted a 3.51 team GPA. Ursinus finished the year as one of 53 programs to hit that benchmark, up from 31 a year ago.

The Bears made some impressive gains in the classroom from a year ago, when they finished 59th in the team rankings with a 3.34 overall mark.
