Strong Day for Gymnastics at Ithaca

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ursinus College gymnastics team posted its highest vault score in two years and picked up a pair of individual victories to finish off a busy weekend with a strong effort at a tri-meet hosted by Ithaca.

Ursinus placed third with a 185.725, right on the heels of the first-place Bombers (186.725) and Brockport (186.550). The Bears completed a rare double weekend, also having competed at the Pink Invite on Friday evening.

The Bears earned a cumulative score of 47.650 on vault, their best since the 2018 NCGA championships. Each of their top four tallies came in with at least a 9.500, and two were personal bests. Taylor Cusick was tops with a career-high 9.600, just ahead of Breanna Couts' personal-best 9.575.

Shruthi Anand earned a 9.550 after achieving a career-high 9.600 two days prior, and Hailey DiCicco's 9.500 was her best of the season. Alex Panetta rounded out the top-five with a 9.300.

Three Bears produced personal bests on the floor, headlined by Kaylin Knapsack's winning exercise that garnered a 9.775 from the judges. Cusick was similarly sensational, collecting a 9.675 for a new career high. DiCicco and Panetta each received a 9.175, with the latter marking a new PR.

Eleanor LaFountain dazzled with a beautiful exhibition routine that earned her a 9.450.

Abigail Schwerdt and Panetta raised the bar with 9.550s on the uneven bars, where DiCicco came through with a 9.350.

Skylar Haas won the balance beam with a 9.625, tied for her third-highest output of the year. Alyssa DeLorme tallied a 9.275, and Snape registered a 9.175.

Next up for the Bears is a long road trip to Ohio, where they'll see Brockport and Bowling Green at a quad meet at Kent State.
