Gymnastics Seniors Snag Academic All-America

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Ursinus College seniors Matisen O'Brien and Lindsay Rush were among the 45 student-athletes from the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) who were recognized for their excellence in the classroom and in the gym with All-America in Academics honors.

The All-American in Academics Award is presented to gymnasts who maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average and whose names appear on the team's NCGA squad list for the current year. Each nominee must be a student academically and be in her final year of athletic eligibility.

Rush enjoyed a terrific senior campaign in which she qualified for nationals for the first time, placing 27th on the vault with a 9.475 at Wisconsin-Oshkosh. A team co-captain scored a 9.400 or better on vault at every meet this season.

O'Brien was a standout on beam for the Bears, ranking third on the team and 30th in Division III with a season average score of 9.4875.
