Haas, Rush Finish Strong at Nationals

OSHKOSH, Wisc. – The Ursinus College gymnastics team's national qualifying duo did themselves proud on the biggest stage.

Senior Lindsay Rush and junior Skylar Haas put together two fantastic final performances on the vault and balance beam, respectively, each making a run at All-America honors before ultimately falling just shy.

Rush capped her career with a 9.475 with a beautiful effort on the vault, landing in a tie for 27th in the individual standings. The co-captain was remarkably steady all year, never scoring below a 9.400 on the event in 10 tries. She made it to nationals for the first time via a tiebreaker after the regional championship, and the senior made sure to soak in every bit of what she called "an incredible experience."

"I am so grateful to complete my gymnastics career on such a high note," Rush said. "Go Bears!"

Haas compiled a sensational routine on the beam, hitting her series upgrade with a nice handspring layout and sticking the dismount for a 9.450. She tied for 21st overall.

"I'm very proud of my routine and happy that I stuck with the upgrade and hit it!" Haas said.

Haas qualified for nationals for the second time by ranking sixth in the East Region in season-average score through the completion of the regional championship. Haas will go for a third trip to nationals next season, when the Bears bring back all but two gymnasts.
