Haas, Rush Headed to Nationals

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – A pair of Ursinus College gymnasts are headed to nationals.

Senior Lindsay Rush and junior Skylar Haas qualified for the NCGA championship on the vault and balance beam, respectively, made official by the official announcement of the All-Championship Team following the two regional meets on Saturday afternoon.

The newly-implemented squad recognizes the top 10 from each region, on each event, on the basis of the top five finishers in each regional tournament in addition to the five highest season average scores entering regionals. The All-Championship Team will be recognized during the award ceremony of the national championship at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on March 23.

Rush is tied for 16th in the nation with a season-average score of 9.5250 on the vault. The Bears' leader on the event all season long, the senior co-captain tied for 11th overall at the East Regional with a tally of 9.600. Rush will be making her individual debut at the national championship.

Haas ranks sixth in the East Region and 13th in Division III on the balance beam, carrying a season average score of 9.6250 and an overall average of 9.492. She tied for ninth overall at the East Regional, scoring 9.625 to match teammate Autumn Snape for the Bears' best individual placement of the tournament.

Haas, who garnered a 9.600 on the floor at regionals, will be making her second appearance at nationals; she placed 16th on the balance beam as a freshman. This time, she'll look to attain All-America honors with a top-12 showing.
