Haas Stars for Gymnastics in Temple Tri-Meet

PHILADELPHIA – The Ursinus College gymnastics team scripted a balanced performance at Temple's Larry Anderson Invitational, registering their second-best score of the season in a tri-meet on North Broad Street.

The Bears finished with a cumulative tally of 183.300, going above 183 for the third time in four meets after hitting that mark just once in the season's first three competitions.

Skylar Haas was at the top of her game, leading Ursinus on both the balance beam and floor exercise. The junior notched a 9.700 on the beam, good for ninth place overall in a loaded meet that also included Bridgeport. Haas' score was her second-best of the year, and she now owns the two best marks on the event for the Bears.

Senior Matisen O'Brien matched her season high with a 9.575, and sophomore Autumn Snape was right behind with an even 9.500.

Haas' strong routine drew a 9.500 from the judges on the floor, her best of the 2019 campaign. Snape notched a personal record with a 9.350, matching the score of sophomore Hailey DiCicco. O'Brien was hot on their heels with a 9.325 and freshman Emma Gable scored a 9.150 to help the Bears earn a 46.675 on the floor, their best mark of the night.

Senior Lindsay Rush led Ursinus on the vault with a 9.400, reaching that number for the seventh consecutive meet. Gable recorded a 9.325, while fellow rookie Gabrielle Pitt was just off her personal best with a 9.300.

DiCicco received the same score as Pitt on the vault and posted the Bears' top effort on the bars with a 9.375, her second-best of the year. Gable finished with a 9.200, sophomore Abigail Schwerdt scored a 9.075, and Rush had a 9.00.

DiCicco finished with an all-around total of 35.875, tied for her second-best output of the season.

The Bears conclude the regular season with a home dual against West Chester on March 2, when they will honor O'Brien and Rush as part of their Senior Meet.
