SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Ursinus College sophomore Hailey DiCicco was selected as the NCGA East Region All-Around Gymnast of the Week.
DiCicco stepped up in a big way on Saturday for the Bears, who shattered their season high by more than three points with a 186.150 in a tri-meet at Cortland. The sophomore finished with a cumulative tally of 37.600, good for the fourth-highest all-around score in Division III this season.
DiCicco earned between 9.350 and 9.450 on all four events on Saturday, a remarkably balanced effort for a short-handed Ursinus squad that was missing several regulars. She registered personal bests on three of them – a 9.450 on the vault (tied for 8th overall at the meet), a 9.425 on the bars (5th), and a 9.350 on the beam (11th). DiCicco received a 9.375 on the floor, just off her career high of 9.450 from the previous meet.
DiCicco's honor gives the Bears a pair of regional award winners this season; she joins junior Eleanor LaFountain, who was named specialist of the week on January 22.
The Bears compete at home for the first time on Sunday, when they welcome West Chester to Helfferich Hall for a dual.
