SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Ursinus College junior Eleanor LaFountain was selected as the NCGA East Region All-Around Gymnast of the Week.
Competing as an all-arounder for the first time in her career this season, LaFountain put together a strong comprehensive performance during Sunday's dual meet at West Chester. The Bears' co-captain scored a 37.175, tied for the third-best all-around total in Division III this season.
LaFountain tied for third on the floor with a 9.675, tied for seventh on the beam with a 9.425, and tied for fourth on the vault with a 9.300 in addition to an 8.775 on the bars. She earned a season-best on all but the floor, and her final tally was nearly a full point clear of her all-around score in the opener at Rhode Island College.
A reigning All-American on the floor, LaFountain is tied for second in Division III with an average score of 9.725. Her average all-around score of 36.775 is good for fifth in the country.
LaFountain is an NCGA East Region weekly award winner for the first time in her career.
The Bears return to action on Sunday with a quad meet at Temple, which also features Penn and Ithaca.
