Gymnastics Takes on Temple Quad

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Ursinus College gymnastics team registered their best score of the season on the beam in a quad meet at Temple on Saturday.

The Bears garnered a collective 47.775 on the balance beam and also scored well on the vault in a competition that also included Bridgeport and West Chester. Ursinus posted a team score of 185.175. 

Senior Alexandra Puryear put up a season-high 9.650 on the beam, tying for 12th overall alongside classmate Kelly McLaughlin. Junior Matisen O'Brien marked a new season best with a 9.600.

Sophomore Skylar Haas' 9.450 was her second-best of the year on the beam, and freshman Alex Lacey garnered 9.425 in her collegiate debut in the event. The Bears tallied 47.775 on the beam, good for third on the afternoon.

Sophomore Eleanor LaFountain produced a 9.550 on the vault, easily her best score of the season. Senior Kelsey Stewart finished just off her season high with a 9.425, and freshman Danielle Terrenzio matched Puryear at 9.400 for a personal record.

McLaughlin also landed just short of her season best with a 9.300 as the Bears compiled a team score of 47.075.

LaFountain again led Ursinus on the floor, posting a 9.600 to finish tied for 12th. Haas earned a 9.475, and Lacey tallied 9.300.

The uneven bars were again a challenge for the Bears, but senior Amanda Palladino was a bright spot with a 9.400, good for 14th overall.

The gymnastics team goes to Rutgers for a quad meet with Towson and Western Michigan on Saturday, February 24.
