Carroll, Dufoe Named All-Region

NFHCA Division III All-Region Teams

GILBERT, Ariz. – A pair of Ursinus College field hockey standouts received all-region honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, the organization announced Tuesday.

Junior midfielder Devon Carroll was named to the All-South Region first team, and senior forward Gemma Dufoe grabbed a spot on the second team. Both first team All-Centennial Conference performers, Carroll and Dufoe each made their debut on the all-region roster.

Carroll was brilliant during the 2019 campaign, tying Dufoe for the team lead with 14 goals and ranking second with 29 points. She scored more than one goal on four occasions and registered three game-winners, including one with 0.1 seconds remaining in the regular-season finale at Bryn Mawr to help Ursinus lock up the third seed in the conference tournament.

Dufoe enjoyed the best season of her career, notching her first All-CC laurel. Her 14 goals were tied for second-most in the conference, and her 30 points were good for third. Dufoe, who more than doubled her previous career high of six goals in a season, tallied five game-winning markers and finished her Ursinus tenure with 30 goals and six assists.

The Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-Region team announcement is the first in a list of postseason awards to come from the NFHCA over the next several weeks. Next to be announced are the First Point USA/NFHCA Regional Player of the Year awards (December 5) — they will be followed by the Longstreth/NFHCA All-American Teams (December 11) and the First Point USA/NFHCA National Player of the Year (December 16).
