Field Hockey Moves into Top-10

NFHCA Poll

GILBERT, Ariz. – The Ursinus College field hockey team has cracked the top-10.

On the heels of a five-game winning streak, the red-hot Bears moved up one spot to No. 10 in the latest Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Coaches Poll. Ursinus, which has ascended the rankings in each edition this season, swapped places with Montclair State.

Defending national champion Middlebury continued to hold on to the No. 1 slot, while Rowan – which dealt the Bears their only loss in double overtime – held steady at No. 2. TCNJ, a future Ursinus opponent, jumped two spots to No. 3, with Salisbury at No. 4 and Tufts at No. 5.

Centennial Conference squads occupied the final three spots of the top-10, with Johns Hopkins at No. 8 and Franklin & Marshall at No. 9. Haverford was second in the "others receiving votes' section.

The Bears have been on a tear of late, outscoring their opponents 22-4 during the current winning streak. Ten different players have scored a goal for Ursinus, led by Gemma Dufoe's eight; she has scored in every game this year.

Ursinus has a pair of conference games on the docket this week, hosting Swarthmore on Wednesday before traveling to Gettysburg on Saturday.
