Field Hockey knocks off top-ranked TCNJ, 2-1

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Senior Megan Keenan's penalty stroke in the 14th minute proved to be the game-winner as eighth-ranked Ursinus (11-2) scored a huge win, knocking off top-ranked The College of New Jersey (12-1) 2-1 on Saturday on Homecoming.

The Bears scored a key regional win over the Lions, in what traditionally has been a battle between the two schools who are perennial NCAA tournament teams.

Keenan's penalty stroke capped a two goal in 42 second run, as senior Danielle Stong scored her seventh goal of the year on a pass from Keenan at 13:07.

TCNJ took a brief 1-0 lead in the ninth minute when Lexi Smith scored on a double assist from Elizabeth Morrison and Taylor Barrett.

From there, the defensive unit for Ursinus took over, allowing the Lions just four shots the rest of the day. Senior goalkeeper Danielle DeSpirito made one save. Ursinus had a 18-5 edge in shots and a 13-9 edge in corners on the day.

The Bears have little time to rest, as they will host the annual Snell Cup game on Sunday against West Chester.
