Football Places Four on All-CC Team

2019 All-CC Football

LANCASTER, Pa. – Four members of the Ursinus College football team received All-Centennial Conference recognition.

Junior running back Samuel Ragland was named to the first team, while senior cornerback Mitchell Bradford and senior defensive end Marcus Weathers appeared on the second team. Senior center James Marinelli received honorable mention.

Ragland reprises his position on the first team offense after another dynamic campaign as the Bears' most potent weapon. The 2017 CC rookie of the year was the engine of the Ursinus attack, racking up 538 yards and five touchdowns rushing while adding 33 receptions for 423 yards and four scores. Despite missing the last four games with an injury, Ragland ranked eighth in the conference in both rushing yards and touchdowns, while his receiving yardage was good for 15th overall.

Ragland will enter his senior season just 19 rushing yards shy of 2,000 for his career. He needs only three touchdowns to equal the all-time mark held of 34 held by Shearrod Duncan (1999-2001).

Bradford is an all-conference honoree for the second consecutive season with a repeat second team nod. The ball-hawking corner was second on the team with seven pass break-ups and recorded his 10th career interception, becoming just the ninth player in school history to reach that milestone. He had 23 tackles and also blocked an extra point.

Weathers wraps up his career with a debut spot on the All-CC roster. He was a terror off the edge, racking up 8.5 sacks to rank third in the conference and push his career total to 13.5, tied for 12th in program history. Weathers, who had three sacks in the season opener against Bethany and two more versus McDaniel, was second in the CC with 18 tackles for loss.

Marinelli becomes the first Ursinus offensive lineman to garner three all-conference awards since Mike D'Amico in 2012 following second-team laurels in 2017 and 2018. Starting at center once again, Marinelli paved the way for a Bears offense that sits third in the conference in rushing (164.7 yards per game) and second with 100 rushing first downs.

Additionally, senior Billy Boyle was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team. Boyle started eight games at right tackles before missing the final two with an injury.
