Spingler Secures CC Defensive POTW

LANCASTER, Pa. – Ursinus College football's Jack Spingler wrapped up his regular-season career in style with defensive player of the week honors from the Centennial Conference.

The senior safety was sensational as the Bears potentially kept their season alive with a gritty 27-19 victory at Dickinson on Saturday. Spingler had two interceptions, including one at midfield in the fourth quarter as the Red Devils were driving down only eight points. The co-captain also produced four tackles, broke up a pass, and recovered a last-ditch onside kick by Dickinson in the final minute to cement Ursinus' win.

Spingler's heroics were just part of a strong defensive effort for the Bears, who racked up four interceptions on the afternoon. With the win, Ursinus locked up fifth place in the conference standings, which will come with a return trip to the Centennial/MAC Bowl Series if Susquehanna receives an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament later this evening.

Spingler has enjoyed a productive final campaign in the defensive backfield. He is tied for sixth on the team with 39 tackles and has added six tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and four pass breakups.
