Weathers Wins Defensive Player of the Week

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – After terrorizing McDaniel on Saturday, Ursinus College senior defensive end Marcus Weathers was named the Centennial Conference defensive player of the week.

Weathers was a force off the edge with two sacks in a 37-16 victory over the Green Terror. Both of his sacks came at crucial times; the first was on a 3rd-and-11 from the Ursinus 33 to prevent a potential McDaniel scoring drive just before halftime, and the second short-circuited another possession that had crossed into Bears territory. Half of Weathers' eight tackles on the day were for a loss.

Weathers is in the midst of a hugely productive final campaign. He is tied for second in the Centennial with 8.5 sacks, just a half-sack behind All-American Frankie Feaster of Muhlenberg, and his 13.5 tackles for loss also place him second in the league behind Feaster. Weather's sack total is the highest in a single season by a Bear since Steve Ambs racked up 12 in 2014, and his career mark of 13.5 is tied for 12th in program history.
