COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The start of the season is still over a month away, but the accolades are already rolling in for the Ursinus College football team as senior offensive tackle Brett Highland was named a third team preseason All-American by D3football.com.

Highland took a star turn during the 2017 season, anchoring an offensive line that proved to be one of the most stable and effective units in the Centennial Conference. Highland started every game at right tackle for a Bears offense that led the CC in rushing yards per game (192.1) and rushing touchdowns (24) and paved the way for fellow All-CC honorees Stacey Gardner and Samuel Ragland in the backfield.

Highland registered 23 knockdown blocks and 41 first down/touchdown blocks last season, after which he became the team's first first team offensive lineman since Woody Stefankiewicz in 2014.

Highland was one of three CC players honored as preseason All-Americans, joining Johns Hopkins receive Luke McFadden (second team) and Muhlenberg corner Nate Corvil (third). D3football.com expanded its preseason All-America squad to include a third team for the first time.

The Bears kick off the 2018 campaign at Bethany (W.V.) on September 1.
