Complete Silver Anniversary Team
LANCASTER, Pa. – Four former Ursinus College football stars were selected to the Centennial Conference Silver Anniversary team.
The Centennial Conference is celebrating 25 years as one of the elite small college athletic conferences in the country with the announcement of its Silver Anniversary teams, highlighting the best of the best over our first quarter-century. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a graduate of the institution and be one of the following:
- 3-time or 4-time first team All-CC performer
- 2-time CC Player of the Year
- 1st team All-America AND 2-time first team All-CC performer
- 2-time All-America (1st, 2nd, or 3rd team)
The Bears who received Silver Anniversary team recognition are: Ron Matthew (1989), Peter Hinckle (1999), Victor Jaramillo (2011), and Chris Rountree (2013).
Matthew was a standout offensive lineman, one of three Bears – including Hinckle and Jaramillo – to be named first team All-CC three times.
Hinckle was a ball-hawking defensive back who earned three first team All-CC nods. He set a school record – later matched by Eric Cowie – with 11 interceptions during the 1996 season, when Ursinus captured its first conference crown; that campaign included a pair of three-pick performances against Johns Hopkins and Dickinson. Hinckle ranks third in school history with 16 interceptions for his career.
Jaramillo, like Matthew, was a three-time first team All-CC performer on the offensive line. He helped the Bears to a share of the conference championship in 2010.
Rountree is one of the most decorated players in Ursinus football history. The program's only four-time first team All-CC honoree, Rountree shares the school record with 21 career interceptions. He picked off eight passes in 2009 and five apiece during the 2010 and 2011 seasons. Rountree is one of only two four-time first team All-CC performers in the history of the conference, along with Franklin & Marshall punter Joe King (1987-90).
