WACO, Texas – The Ursinus College football team's undefeated start has gained national attention.

The Bears received a vote in the latest American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III Coaches' Poll, just in time for a showdown with No. 8 Johns Hopkins on Saturday.

Ursinus moved to 4-0 for the first time since 2014 with a 35-17 victory at Moravian last weekend. Through the first four games of the season, the Bears lead the Centennial Conference in rushing yards (1015), rushing yards per game (253.8), yards per rush (5.2), and rushing touchdowns (13), and third-down conversions (52.0%). Ursinus is also the least penalized team in the league, having been flagged just 13 times for 138 yards.

Sophomore Stacey Gardner is the conference's leading rusher with 497 yards, and rookie backfield mate Samuel Ragland is tied for second with five touchdowns. Sophomore linebacker Jacob McCain is fourth with 35 total tackles.

The Bears welcome the seven-time defending champion Blue Jays to Patterson Field for a 1 p.m. tussle on Saturday, September 30.
