LANCASTER, Pa. – Ursinus College football's freshman kicker Alex DeSpirito was named the Centennial Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.
DeSpirito was perfect in the Bears' 35-28 victory at Gettysburg, making both of his field goals and all three of his extra points to help Ursinus improve to 2-0 for the first time since 2014. He hit from 24 yards to give the Bears a 10-6 lead early in the second quarter, then was true from 32 yards out to make it 27-22 with 6:13 remaining in the fourth quarter.
DeSpirito, who is a perfect 8-for-8 on extra points this season, averaged 33.3 yards on six punts and dropped two inside the Bullets' 20-yard line.
The Bears return to action on Saturday, welcoming Juniata to campus for the annual Homecoming game.
