Football falls to Muhlenberg, 41-10

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Muhlenberg freshman quarterback Nick Palladino threw for 339 yards and four touchdowns as the Mules (7-2, 6-2 Centennial) defeated Ursinus (6-3, 5-3 Centennial) 41-10 on Saturday afternoon in the home finale for the Bears.

Palladino threw for TD pass of 53, 16 and 63 yards, all to junior wide receiver Cody Geyer as the Mules built a 34-3 lead into the fourth quarter.

Ursinus' lone score came in the fourth quarter when senior running back Jason Golderer caught a ten-yard pass from junior quarterback Kevin Monahan with 8:12 left.

Monahan finished the day 22-for-40 for 247 yards and a score, with ten of his passes going to senior wide receiver Jerry Rahill. Rahill is now just two catches away from the all-time reception mark. He finished with 127 yards rushing.

For Muhlenberg, Geyer finished with eight catches for 181 yards.

Defensively, Ursinus was led by sophomore defensive end Steve Ambs who had nine tackles.

The lone score of the first quarter came from Muhlenberg, as the Mules converted on a Ursinus interception to take a 7-0 lead 2:05 in when Palladino rushed from 2-yards out for the score.

Palladino tossed his first TD pass of the day in the second quarter when he threw an 18-yard pass to sophomore wide receiver Mike Harris with 8:06 left for a 14-0 lead.

Ursinus got on the board with 52 seconds left in the first half when sophomore kicker Eric Boyer converted a 32-yard field goal to cut the deficit to 14-3.

The Mules then came back and scored on a deep play down the middle of the field as Palladino found Geyer for a 53-yard score with nine seconds left and a 20-3 lead.

The Geyer from Palladino combo would score the next two touchdowns, starting with a 16-yard scoring pass in the fourth quarter with 13:06 left and another one with 12:27 left for a 34-3 lead.

After Golderer's touchdown catch, Muhlenberg would score with 3:29 left when junior running back Thomas DiCarlo scored on a 7-yard run to end the scoring.

Ursinus heads to Dickinson on Saturday to close the season.
