COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Alex Mumme extended his ascension into rarified air in Ursinus College baseball lore with a first team All-Mid-Atlantic Region selection by D3baseball.com.

A year ago, the junior slugger became the first player in school history to earn all-region recognition from the website, which began choosing all-region squads eight years ago. Now, Mumme becomes the first Bear to garner a first-team nod.

Mumme produced the finest offensive campaign in the 131-year history of Ursinus baseball, cementing himself as one of the most dangerous hitters in all of Division III on the way to being named Centennial Conference player of the year. The junior right fielder set school records in home runs (14), RBI (45), doubles (21), runs (60), and slugging percentage (.844) while equaling the all-time mark with 65 hits. Mumme, who topped the CC in runs, doubles, RBI, and total bases and ranked second in homers, hits, and batting average (.422), is second in the nation in slugging, sixth in home runs, and seventh in runs.

The second CC player of the year in program history (and the first since 2001), Mumme is a three-time all-league performer and a two-time first team member. Mumme is the ninth Ursinus player to collect multiple first-team honors and enters his senior season as the all-time leader with 26 home runs and 54 doubles.

Mumme now awaits possible inclusion on the All-America team, which will be released May 29.
