Mumme Reels in All-Region Honor

2018 All-Mid-Atlantic Region

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus College baseball standout Alex Mumme capped his stellar sophomore season with a spot on the D3baseball.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region second team.

After consolidating a record-breaking rookie campaign with an impressive second act that saw him named to the All-Centennial Conference first team, Mumme becomes the first player in program history to earn all-region recognition from D3baseball.com. The website is in its seventh season of naming all-region teams.

Mumme was one of the most dangerous hitters in the region, tying the school record with eight home runs to tie for third in the conference and posting 32 RBI. He was second in the league in slugging percentage (.617), fourth in doubles (13) and total bases (87), seventh in batting average (.355), and ninth in RBI. Mumme was second on the team in hits (50), runs (37), and RBI and also stole four bases without being caught. He ended the season on a 17-game hitting streak, the second-longest in school history.

As a freshman, Mumme shattered the program record with 20 doubles despite missing 12 games, and his .417 average was fourth-highest for a single season school history.

An honorable mention All-CC performer in 2017, Mumme already sits second in program history with 33 doubles and is tied for fourth with 12 homers. He will enter his junior season with 93 hits on his ledger, putting him on pace to challenge the program mark of 198.
