Baseball Fields Five on All-CC Team

2018 All-CC Baseball

LANCASTER, Pa. – Five members of the Ursinus College baseball team – including a major award winner – received recognition on the All-Centennial Conference roster.

Sophomore Alex Mumme was named to the first team, while senior Travis Kozak, junior Carter Usowski, and sophomore Dom Fiorentino grabbed second team honors. Freshman pitcher Nolan Graber was selected as the CC Rookie of the Year, the first in Ursinus history.

Mumme followed up a breakout rookie season with another impressive performance at the plate, leading the conference and tying the school record with eight home runs. He was second in the league in slugging percentage (.617), fourth in doubles (13) and total bases (87), seventh in batting average (.355), and ninth in RBI (32). Mumme ended the season on a 17-game hitting streak, the second-longest in school history. An honorable mention All-CC performer in 2017, Mumme already sits second in program history with 33 doubles and is tied for fourth with 12 homers.

An all-conference player for the second time, Kozak's career culminated in another terrific season at the top of the lineup. The center fielder was second in the CC in on-base percentage (.455), fourth in average (.371), fifth in runs (38), and sixth in hits (52), leading the team in each category. Kozak, who drove in 13 runs and stole eight bases and posted four outfield assists, finished his career fourth in UC history in on-base percentage (.434), sixth in runs (101), and tied for eighth in hits (143).

Usowski is also a two-time All-CC performer after an honorable mention accolade a year ago. He hit .333 with four home runs and a team-leading 34 RBI, landing second on the team in on-base percentage (.432) and third in slugging percentage (.508), runs (33), and doubles (11). Usowski ranks fifth in school history with 28 doubles and ninth in RBI (74).

Fiorentino broke out into one of the area's top outfielders, logging a .349 average with two homers and 28 RBI. The sophomore right fielder tied with Mumme for the team lead and ranked fourth in the CC with 13 doubles, also topping the squad with two triples. He placed second on the Bears in batting average, slugging (.527), and stolen bases (6) and third in RBI and hits (45). Fiorentino, who also registered three outfield assists, was red-hot down the stretch, going 11-for-17 with five RBI over his final four games.

Graber was sensational in his first taste of collegiate ball, going 4-3 with team bests in innings (43.1), strikeouts (30), and ERA (2.91); his 1.71 ERA in conference play was good for fourth in the CC. Graber allowed just six earned runs in 37.1 innings over his last six appearances, which included a pair of complete games and a two-hitter at Gettysburg.

Senior Pierce Greenleaf was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team. A starting pitcher, Greenleaf went 1-3 with a 5.65 ERA this season, logging 43.0 innings and 21 strikeouts. He was 9-9 with a 4.42 ERA and 80 strikeouts in 161.0 innings for his career.
