Baseball drops final game of the season

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus baseball team (17-17) closed their season with an 8-2 loss to DeSales University (24-13) Sunday afternoon, at Thomas field.

The Bears were led by Austin Feuerman going 2-2 with a single and a double. Seniors Ralph Aurora and Josh Schnell contributed two hits and both the Bears runs.

Ursinus took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with a Schnell singled to center field scoring Aurora. Next CJ Diana singled on a perfect bunt down the left field line scoring Schnell.

DeSales fought back scoring eight runs on nine hits.  Senior Bulldog Brian Mauro was honored after slugging his 200th hit of his career in the ninth inning on a double.

The Bears improve their record for 2014, going 17-17 after a rough 7-27 2013 campaign for second year head coach Stan Exeter. In a rebuilding season the Bears played 21 freshmen during the year.
