Baseball blanks Maine-Presque Isle, 11-0

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Six runs in the second inning proved to be more than enough for Ursinus as the Bears (9-6) blanked Maine-Presque Isle (0-11) 11-0 on Thursday afternoon in a non-conference affair at Thomas Field.

A total of 25 players saw action in the contest for Ursinus, including a total of six pitchers who combined for a three-hitter.

For Ursinus, junior third baseman Vince Rondolone, freshmen infielder CJ Diana and left fielder Timo Muro each had two hits, while Rondolone finished with four RBI. Muro had two runs scored, as the Bears banged out ten hits in the win.

Freshman Connor Moriarty got the win, as on a pre-determined staff day, he threw three innings and allowed just one hit. He struck out three and walked one.

This was the start of a long stretch of baseball for the Bears, who are scheduled to play at Muhlenberg tomorrow, then will host back-to-back doubleheaders over the weekend starting with Washington College on Saturday and Gettysburg on Sunday.
