COLLEGEVILLE, PA. – Ursinus took advantage of three Haverford errors in the bottom of the sixth to score four runs in a 5-4 come-from-behind win over the Fords Tuesday afternoon in Centennial Conference baseball play.

Ursinus (12-14, 4-5 Centennial) trailed 4-1 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, before junior catcher Kevin Wilson (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) singled, then advanced to third on an fielding error on a single by senior centerfielder Ben Gresh (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove).

Sophomore left fielder Josh Schnell (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) then got on base via a throwing error, which allowed Wilson and Gresh to both score.

After senior first baseman Rich Guthridge (Schwenksville, Pa./Spring-Ford) singled, senior third baseman Joel Ackerman (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) reached on a fielder's choice, then reached second on another error. That error allowed Schnell to score, tying the score at 4-all.

A bases loaded walk by senior right fielder Garrett Smith (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesse) forced in the game-winning run with two outs.

Gresh finished the game 2-for-4 with two runs scored, while Schnell and Smith had RBI.

For Haverford (13-15, 5-4 Centennial), sophomore centerfielder Nick Miranda and senior first baseman Jake Chaplin each had three hits, with freshman third baseman Casey Fox hitting two.

Sophomore left hander Chris Ryder (Douglassville, Pa./Holy Name) got the win in relief of junior right hander Jake Kohler (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin). Ryder threw the final six, striking out five and walking two while allowing just one earned run. Kohler went three innings, striking out one and walking two. Ryder improved to 2-2

Haverford freshman pitcher Tommy Bergjans fell to 3-3, pitching 5.2 innings. He struck out seven and walked four, allowing five runs with none of them being earned.

Ursinus and Haverford will finish the two-game series on Friday on the Main Line.
