SWARTHMORE, Pa. -- Swarthmore College Women's Basketball put together an 11-0 run in the fourth quarter on Thursday night at Tarble Pavilion but ultimately lost 71-57 to Ursinus College.
The Garnet (1-5, 0-3) made their first 14 free throws and didn't miss one until there was 2:11 left in the game. They finished 17-for-19 from the line. Swarthmore freshman guard
Kim Kockenmeister scored all of her points from the charity stripe, making a team-high seven free throws on eight attempts.
Swarthmore held its own in the first quarter, trailing the Bears (3-3, 1-2) 17-15 as it came to a close. Ursinus took control in the next two quarters, outscoring the Garnet by 18 to make the score 53-33 heading into the fourth. The aforementioned fourth-quarter run by Swarthmore made it 55-44, but that was as close as the Garnet would come throughout the rest of the game.
Junior guard
Abigail Pirron led Swarthmore with 13 points, tying her season high. She also had season highs with seven rebounds and two blocks, adding two more team highs on the night.
Garnet senior forward
Audra Woodside scored in double figures for the second game in a row with 11 points. She matched her season average with six rebounds on the night.
Swarthmore completes its three-game home stand with a matchup against Franklin & Marshall College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
