Ashley Johnston returns to Ursinus for her ninth season as assistant field hockey coach. The former Ashley Pultorak aids in coaching both the goalies and the high-powered Bears offense.

Prior to her arrival in Collegeville, Johnston served as the assistant coach at her alma mater, Perkiomen Valley High School, in 2010. She helped guide that team to a PIAA district playoff berth.

Johnston was also heavily involved with in the USFHA program and is a Level II Certified Coach. From 2006 to 2014 she served as both a head coach and site director in Pennsylvania’s Futures olympic development program.

At the club level, Johnston has contributed to the “x’s and o’s” of High Styx since 2006. She has guided top Berks County athletes to winning performances at the National Hockey Festival and National Indoor Tournament.

As a US Athlete, Johnston earned experience at four international tours through the Futures Elite Program and experienced continued success playing High Performance in college during the 2008 Beijing High Performance selection tournament.    

Johnston is a 2009 graduate of Duke University, where she was a standout offensive player for the Blue Devils. She earned Academic All-ACC Honors three times and helped lead Duke to the 2005 national championship, 2006 Final Four, 2007 Sweet Sixteen, and 2008 Elite Eight.

When Johnston is not on the turf, she works full time for a non-profit private foundation whose mission is to provide the community with tools and opportunities to embrace a healthy lifestyle.
