Rupert McCrea joined new head coach Cecily Scavicchio's staff as an assistant for the 2017 season. A former member of the Jamaican National Team, McCrea brings several decades' worth of coaching experience at the club, collegiate, and international levels.

A native of Kingston, McCrea was a setter for Jamaica's men's volleyball team from 1990 to 2002, during which he earned three Best Setter awards as a member of the Venus Volleyball Club.

McCrea has served several stints as a coach with the Jamaican men's and women's national teams. He was an assistant with the junior national squads in 1997, helping to lead the boy's and girl's teams to top-three finishes on the national stage. He also worked as an assistant with the men's and women's national teams from 1999 to 2001, when Jamaica competed in the Caribbean championship and world championship qualifying games. 

McCrea spent six years as the head coach at Campion College in Kingston, leading the men's team to a championship in 1997 before moving on to the same post at the University of Technology from 1999 to 2000. There, he guided the women's program to a championship in 2000. He then spent the 2002 season as an assistant at North Carolina A&T University.

McCrea has been an instructor for more than two decades at camps in New York, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. Most recently, he has worked at the Phoenixville YMCA as a seasonal instructor since 2015, and led a one-week camp at the Watkinson School in Hartford, Connecticut in the summer of 2017.

McCrea received his technical school diploma from the G.C Foster College of Physical Education and Sport in St. Catherine, Jamaica, graduating in 1993. He currently resides in Phoenixville.
