Kaitlyn McGinley Receives Linda L. McIntyre Award

Volleyball sophomore Kaitlyn McGinley was chosen as the recipient of the Linda L. McIntyre Award, the first in a series of honors to be bestowed as part of Ursinus' Athletic Awards Week.

The Linda L. McIntyre Award is given annually to a sophomore woman who, during her freshman and sophomore years, demonstrates initiative in financing her education, proficiency and perseverance in intercollegiate athletics, and a cooperative and unselfish attitude in women's sports.

McGinley has established herself as a leader on campus in her first two years. A double major in pre-health and environmental studies, she maintains a 3.59 cumulative grade-point average and earned Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll recognition following the fall semester.

McGinley is a member of Students Today Alumni Tomorrow (STAT), a campus organization focused on showing students what it means to be proud Ursinus alumni and "Bears for Life" and dedicated to educating the campus community about philanthropy, increasing student engagement and school spirit, and advocating on behalf of the Office of Advancement. In this role, McGinley served on the education committee and was responsible for compiling "flush facts" that set Ursinus apart from other colleges. She assisted with 150 Fest, the college's sesquicentennial celebration, by volunteering to collect donations and host games in Upper Wismer. She also ran events for Founder's Day and Giving Day. A Gold Ambassador, McGinley hosts tours for alums.

As a Parlee Fellow, McGinley contributes to the college's efforts to bring speakers to campus and assists faculty in running the Parlee Center for Science and the Common Good. She has been an integral part of such programming as alumni panels, movie showings, and group discussions concerning the impact of science on the common good.

A key contributor on the volleyball team, McGinley was one of three female student-athletes chosen to attend the 21st annual Snell-Shillingford Coaching Symposium.

Through her first two seasons on the court, McGinley has racked up 224 digs and 25 service aces.
