Complete Silver Anniversary Team
LANCASTER, Pa. – Seven of the Ursinus College wrestling program's most decorated former stars were selected to the Centennial Conference Silver Anniversary team.
The Centennial Conference is celebrating 25 years as one of the elite small college athletic conferences in the country with the announcement of its Silver Anniversary teams, highlighting the best of the best over our first quarter-century. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a graduate of the institution and be one of the following:
- 3-time or 4-time first team All-CC performer
- 2-time CC Player of the Year
- 1st team All-America AND 2-time first team All-CC performer
- 2-time All-America (1st, 2nd, or 3rd team)
The Bears who received Silver Anniversary team recognition are: Donny Asper (1999), Josh Moyer (2001), Sean Howard (2004), Eddie Murray (2005), Mike Troutman (2006), Rich Jasinski (2015), and Derek Arnold (2017).
Donny Asper was a three-time Centennial Conference champion, one of 18 in CC history. He captured the 158-pound crown as a sophomore and junior before tacking on a 157-pound title in his final season.
Josh Moyer was named the CC's Most Outstanding Performer at the 1998 and 1999 conference championships, claiming the 134-pound belt in the former and the 133-pound title in the latter. He became the second Ursinus wrestler to earn All-America honors in 1999, when he placed sixth at the NCAA Championships.
Sean Howard won three CC titles and was selected as the conference's Most Outstanding Wrestler in 2002. He claimed 157-pound championships as a freshman and sophomore and added a 165-pound crown as a senior. Howard placed eighth at the NCAA Championships in 2003 to earn All-America status.
Eddie Murray finished his wrestling with a sparkling 136-17 record, landing him third all-time at Ursinus and fourth in the CC in victories. One of only eight four-time champions in CC history, Murray collected the league crown in the 125-pound class his first three seasons before moving up to 133 as a senior. He was named the CC Wrestler of the Year in 2005, and in 2006 Murray picked up the Chris Clifford Award for most career points at the CC championship. A three-time Academic All-American, Murray was awarded Division III All-American status after a sixth-place finish at the national championship in 2004.
Mike Troutman's resume is chock full of historic accomplishments. Like his classmate Murray, Troutman was a four-time CC champion and NCAA qualifier and a Chris Clifford Award winner (2006), and even produced an identical 136 career wins. He was named the CC Wrestler of the Year as a freshman in 2003 and earned All-America honors in both 2005 (8th place) and 2006 (5th) to become the first two-time All-American in Ursinus history. Troutman tops the program and conference charts with 61 career pins, and his 23 pins led the nation in 2006, when he was also an NCAA Academic All-American. A 16-time champion (out of 22 tournaments entered), Troutman was voted Ursinus' Male Athlete of the Year as a senior in 2006.
Rich Jasinski was a two-time CC champion in the 157-pound weight class. He placed eighth for an All-America certificate at the NCAA Championships in 2014 and grabbed an NCAA East Regional title in 2015. His 36 victories in the 2014 campaign are second-most in single-season conference history at 157 pounds.
Derek Arnold was a three-time conference champion who also racked up three regional trophies. He was a two-time All-American, finishing fourth in the nation in both 2015 (149 pounds) and 2017 (157), and took home the Chris Clifford Award as a senior in 2017.
