Complete Silver Anniversary Team

The Centennial Conference is celebrating 25 years as one of the elite small college athletic conferences in the country with the announcement of its Silver Anniversary teams, highlighting the best of the best over our first quarter-century. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a graduate of the institution and be one of the following:

  • 3-time or 4-time first team All-CC performer
  • 2-time CC Player of the Year
  • 1st team All-America AND 2-time first team All-CC performer
  • 2-time All-America (1st, 2nd, or 3rd team)

The Bears who received Silver Anniversary team recognition are: Rich Barrett (2001), Dennis Stanton (2004), and Mike McGarvey (2006).

Rich Barrett was a four-time All-Centennial Conference selection and one of only seven players in league history to earn three first team laurels. The CC Player of the Year in 2001, Barrett is the conference's all-time leader in scoring average at 18.6 points per game, and his 35 points against Washington College in 1998 are still tied for the highest single-game total by a freshman. He ranks third in program history in scoring (1,841 points) and fourth in rebounding (782).

Dennis Stanton was a prolific scorer who ranks second in school history with 1,930 points despite only playing three seasons with the Bears. A two-time first team All-CC performer, Stanton turned in a staggering senior campaign in 2004, averaging 32.6 points per contest on the way to first team NABC All-America recognition and a first team CoSIDA Academic All-America honor. The CC Player of the Year in 2004, Stanton owns a host of conference records, including points in a game (55), half (34), and season (879); 3-pointers in a career (306) and season (140); and free throws in a season (217). He posted 18 30-point outings and five 40-point nights at Ursinus.

Mike McGarvey stands not only as one of Ursinus' all-time greats, but also as one of the premier men's basketball players in the history of the Centennial Conference. The CC's all-time record-holder in assists (754) and steals (300), he topped the league in assists all four years of his career and ranks second in 3-pointers (272). A two-time CC Player of the Year (2005, 2006) and two-time D3hoops.com All-American (2nd Team in 2006, 4th Team in 2005), McGarvey spurred the Bears to conference championships in 2003, 2005, and 2006, including the only undefeated CC season ever recorded in 2003.

The owner of the three highest single-season assist totals in CC history, McGarvey finished his career with 1,460 points, 754 assists, 368 rebounds, 300 steals, and 272 3-pointers in 111 games. He was a finalist for the Jostens Trophy, awarded annually to honor the NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Basketball Outstanding Athletes of the Year, in 2006. He was recently named head men's basketball coach at Lycoming College.
